Residents celebrated the entry into the Schengen area

Several hundred residents of the municipality of Cestica from the Republic of Croatia and the neighboring municipality of Zavrč from the Republic of Slovenia, on Saturday, December 31, 2022, starting at 2 p.m., celebrated the entry of the Republic of Croatia into the Schengen area, which enables the member states to freely move their population without border controls.

The ceremony was held along a road that partly extends over the territory of the Republic of Slovenia, at the address Goričak 1, Zavrč municipality, and on the other side of the road is Coffee bar Zeko in Dubrava Križovljanska, Cestica municipality.

In memory of the celebration of the entry of the Republic of Croatia into the Schengen area, i.e. the day from which the residents of the neighbouring settlements of the municipalities of Zavrč and Cestica will be able to move freely on both sides of the border, the leaders of the municipalities exchanged appropriate gifts, and the socializing of the locals continued until the late evening hours.
